The military papers include a commendation for Ridlen, and a 1905 clipping relates the accomplishments of the 22nd Indiana Infantry Regiment. William F. Allee was born in Hendricks County, Ind., in 1844. He enlisted as a private in the 22nd Indiana Infantry Regiment, Company K, in 1861. Allee participated in every regimental engagement and was promoted to the rank of captain in 1865. After the war he married Eliza Merrill Parker and the couple raised four children. A native of Jefferson County, Ind., Ridlen enlisted in the 22nd Indiana Infantry Regiment during the Civil War and saw duty in Georgia and North Carolina. He later lived in Seymour, Ind.
